IHRAQUI PEMBROKE & CARDIGAN WELSH CORGIS

Carol bred and exhibited both Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis many years ago before taking time out while the family was growing up.

Barry initially had Alaskan Malamutes and owned the IHRAQUI kennel prefix.

IHRAQUI is Alaskan for snow shoes and seemed appropriate for corgis with their pretty white feet so the prefix was retained when they both decided to concentrate on Pembrokes.

The first IHRAQUI Pembroke litter was registered in 2005 and, although unable to be exhibited at many shows, several home-bred corgis have enjoyed some success in the ring, with the puppies in pet homes also much-loved and enjoyed by their owners.

Mindful of the need to breed only the healthiest possible puppies, IHRAQUI is about to commence DNA testing the resident Pembrokes for von Willebrands Disease. 

Carol and Barry have an unofficial partnership with Peggy Scott, a long-time breeder in the South Island, who has bred many beautiful, good-winning Pembrokes under her SCOTMIST prefix.
They enjoy working with Peggy and truly appreciate her knowledge, advice and support.

Recently Carol was thrilled to add a Cardigan puppy to the family again and looks forward to having a lot of fun with him and, in time, the arrival of the first IHRAQUI Cardigan litter.

Both Carol & Barry are current committee members of their local Specialty Club, the Central Welsh Corgi League, and enjoy participating in the club’s events.
